Dear colleagues,
I am hiring a Dean’s Postdoctoral Scholar to work with me at Florida State
University on research related to children’s math anxiety and learning
across two projects.
The first project is an IES grant
<https://ies.ed.gov/funding/grantsearch/details.asp?ID=2047> that we just
wrapped up, which examined how K-3 teachers’ math anxiety relates to their
instructional practices and their students’ math attitudes and achievement. The
postdoctoral researcher will lead and collaborate on conference
presentations and journal articles with my research team
<http://www.mtllabfsu.com/current-lab-members.html> using the data from
this project to answer questions they are interested in (~250 teachers and
their ~2500 students).
The second project is a current NSF grant
<https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2201832> where we are
adapting and testing a math anxiety intervention for elementary school
children. The postdoctoral researcher will assist with the development and
testing of the intervention in the lab, administer the intervention to
children in schools, conduct data analyses, present research findings at
conferences, and write journal articles.
I will provide hands-on mentorship on data collection, advanced statistical
analysis, open science practices, manuscript writing, grant writing, and
lab management. Funding is also available for training and travel
opportunities.
Candidates should have a PhD in developmental psychology, human
development, educational psychology, mathematics education, school
psychology, clinical psychology, or a related field and interest in
studying math learning and/or academic emotions in children. The PhD must
have been received within the past 5 years and cannot be from Florida State
University to be eligible.
The start date can be any time between January and September of 2023.
Annual salary for the position is anticipated to be $59,000. The position
is intended to be for 2 years.
To apply, please email me (cganley at fsu.edu) a 1-2 page cover letter, your
CV, and the names and contact information of two potential references that
I can contact. Applications will be accepted until Friday December 2, 2022.
Please email me if you have any questions!
- Colleen
