Dear Colleagues,
We are currently conducting a systematic review on the effectiveness
of *screening
tools/tasks* for identifying young people with (or at risk of) *mathematical
learning difficulties (MLD) or with low achievement (LA) in maths**.* The
team includes Mr Stanley Cheng (Macquarie University, Australia), Prof
Rebecca Bull (Macquarie University, Australia), Dr Emma Burns (Macquarie
University, Australia), Ms Carola Ruiz (Universidad Católica del Uruguay,
Uruguay), and Dr Darren Dai (The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong
Kong). We would like to include any unpublished studies or manuscripts.
Our inclusion criteria are:
- studies include participants aged 3 to 18 years
- have a clear definition and operating criterion of MLD (or at risk
of MLD, or LA), and contain MLD (or at risk of MLD, or LA)
sample(s) in the
studies
- studies contain sufficient and adequate data to determine the
effectiveness of the screening tool(s)/task(s). For example, (i)
provide diagnostic accuracy data (e.g., sensitivity, specificity, overall
accuracy, and/or area under the curve [AUC]) of the screening tool(s)
or (ii) provide predictive validity (e.g., convergent or divergent
validity, correlation) of the screener tool(s) in relation to other
assessment instrument(s)
If you have unpublished studies/manuscript(s) that meets our criteria or if
you have any questions, please get in touch by the 15th August 2023 (
stanley.cheng at hdr.mq.edu.au).
Many thanks for your help!
