Hi All,
I'm re-issuing this position, with a new anticipated start date of early
summer 2026. The updated job ad is below.
Thanks,
Dan
We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral scholar to work on an ongoing
longitudinal study in the Brain and Cognitive Development Lab at the
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under the direction of Dr Dan Hyde.
The project employs both functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and
event-related potentials (ERPs) to examine the relationship between
functional brain re-organization and numeracy in children from 2-6 years
with a multi-wave, longitudinal design.
The postdoctoral scholar is anticipated to play a large role in
pre-registration development, data analyses, manuscript development, data
dissemination (e.g., conference presentation), and data curation. The
postdoctoral scholar will also help with ongoing data collection.
Participation in the project will also provide opportunities for novel
project development and continued future access to the resulting
longitudinal dataset.
More information about the lab can be found on the following website:

This position requires a Ph.D. in psychology or a field related to the
project (e.g., neuroscience, cognitive science, human development) by the
start date, at least 2-3 years of research experience relevant to at least
one dimension of the project (e.g., longitudinal statistical modeling,
relevant brain measures, hands-on experience with the population of
interest, early numeracy, etc.), and the ability to work rigorously and
comfortably with families and children to conduct research.
Although not necessary, the ideal candidate will also have a strong command
of longitudinal statistical modeling, demonstrated expertise in
developmental cognitive neuroscience (fNIRS and/or EEG), and a strong
interest in numerical cognition.
This position is for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal at the end of
the year based on funding availability and performance review. Pay/salary
is commensurate with experience and negotiable within constraints of the
funding mechanism.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a hire is made. The
applicant would ideally start early summer 2026, but an earlier or later
start date could be negotiated.
Interested applicants should email Dr. Hyde (dchyde at illinois.edu
<dchyde at illiinois.edu>) with questions. To apply, please send a CV,
one-page statement of relevant research experience and interests, and a
list of three people who can serve as references.
