Visa Information
Nationals of about 170 countries and territories may visit Hong Kong without a visa/entry permit for a period ranging from 7 days to 180 days. Please check the Hong Kong Immigration Department website to learn whether you are eligible.
Participants who need a visa/entry permit should obtain the appropriate visa/entry permit before traveling to Hong Kong. For more information on how to apply for a visa, please visit the Hong Kong Immigration Department website. We will issue all authors a Letter of Invitation upon abstract acceptance that can be used to apply for a visa, should it be required.
Commuting in Hong Kong
For ease of traveling in Hong Kong, you can purchase an Octopus Card at any MTR station customer service kiosk, including the one at the airport. You may pay HK$39 to buy the Octopus card or pay a HK$50 deposit to loan the card, which is refundable upon return of the card.
The Octopus card is an electronic cash top-up card used to pay for public transport, like the MTR, buses, and minibuses, and to make purchases at participating shops and restaurants. It can be topped up at any MTR station or convenience store, including the 7-Eleven located at the EdUHK campus.
You can use Citymapper or Google Maps to navigate Hong Kong.
